Everyone has a Story: Children Affected by Parental Substance UseĀ
This facilitator course is to support practitioners to listen and respond effectively and appropriately to children affected by parental substance use.
Course objectives:
- Identify the impact of parental substance use on childrenāÆ
- Describe the childās change cycle in parental use and recoveryāÆ
- Practise the assessment of risk for children affected by parental substance useāÆ
- Identify ways to actively engage and hear young peopleās stories
Skilled Level: The skilled level specifies the practice-specific knowledge and skills expected of practitioners who have direct or substantial contact and responsibility for people affected by substance use, and who are responsible for direct care or treatment of people affected by substance use. The āskilledā level would typically apply to those in roles where there is responsibility for planning and delivery of support, care, or treatment.
