Understanding Stigma: Promoting Inclusive Attitudes and Practice (Online Scotland Wide)

This facilitator led course will give participants a distinct set of knowledge and skills to help them understand and address alcohol and drug-related stigma
Course objectives:
- Describe the impact of stigma on people who use substances, people in treatment or in recovery from substance use 
- Recall language which de-stigmatises people affected by substance use
- Describe how stigma and discrimination impact on the quality and effectiveness of service delivery  
- Identify institutional and structural stigma attached to people who use substances, people in treatment or in recovery from substance use.
Informed Level: The informed level specifies the baseline practice-specific knowledge and skills every worker in the drugs and alcohol sector should be developing upon entering employment.
Please do not book training on another person’s behalf, each learner should set up their own account on the SDF Learning Centre to book their own training. This allows the learner to track their own learning progress and receive certificates on completion of training for their CPD records.
