SUMMARY:Advancing Reflective Listening Skills in Motivational Interviewing (Online Scotland Wide)
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A CHARGE OF £80 PER PERSON FOR THIS EVENT. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis 3.5 hour online bite-sized workshop offers participants the opportunity to strengthen their complex reflective listening skills through practice\, feedback\, and coaching. Particular emphasis is placed on developing the strategic use of complex reflections and increasing the use of reflections relative to questions\, helping practitioners deepen empathic understanding and enhance engagement in conversations. \n\n\n\nReflective listening is a core communication skill within MI and provides the foundation upon which all other MI skills are built. Developing confidence and fluency in reflective listening is essential for practitioners seeking to engage effectively with individuals\, foster empathy\, and support behaviour change. \n\n\n\nWho is this workshop for? \n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed for practitioners who have already completed at least an introductory Motivational Interviewing (MI)training and wish to further develop their skills and confidence in applying MI approaches in practice. The workshop is not intended to replace or replicate formal MI training. SDF delivers a comprehensive multi-day introduction to MI training through its Bronze Badge programme\, which forms part of the SDF Motivational Interviewing Badge Scheme. \n\n\n\nSkilled Level: The skilled level specifies the practice-specific knowledge and skills expected of practitioners who have direct or substantial contact and responsibility for people affected by substance use\, and who are responsible for direct care or treatment of people affected by substance use. The ‘skilled’ level would typically apply to those in roles where there is responsibility for planning and delivery of support\, care\, or treatment.  \n\n\n\nPlease do not book training on another person’s behalf\, each learner should set up their own account on the SDF Learning Centre to book their own training. SUMMARY:Advancing Motivational Interviewing Skills: Evoking the Language of Motivation (Change Talk) (Online Scotland Wide)
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A CHARGE OF £80 PER PERSON FOR THIS EVENT. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis 3.5 hour online bite-sized workshop provides opportunities to practise identifying\, eliciting\, and strengthening change talk. Participants will receive feedback and coaching in exploring a person’s motivations\, needs\, confidence\, and readiness for change\, particularly when ambivalence is present. A key aim of MI is to recognise\, evoke\, and strengthen change talk\, helping individuals explore and articulate their own motivations for change. As practitioners become more skilled in using MI techniques\, they can support people to spend more time discussing potential changes and\, over time\, strengthen change talk into commitment language. \n\n\n\nPlease note: Participants should be confident in using complex (deeper) reflective listening skills before attending this workshop. \n\n\n\nWho is this workshop for? \n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed for practitioners who have already completed at least an introductory Motivational Interviewing (MI) training and wish to further develop their skills and confidence in applying MI approaches in practice. SUMMARY:Advancing Motivational Interviewing Skills: Softening Sustain Talk (Online Scotland Wide)
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A CHARGE OF £80 PER PERSON FOR THIS EVENT.  \n\n\n\n\n\nThis 3.5 hour online bite-sized workshop provides participants with opportunities to practise responding skilfully to sustain talk through guided exercises\, feedback\, and coaching. The workshop focuses on techniques that soften inter-personal discord\, reduce the emphasis on maintaining the status quo\, and support more productive conversations about change Effective MI practice involves recognising sustain talk and responding in ways that acknowledge the person’s perspective while avoiding reinforcement of the arguments against change. Practitioners can use a range of MI strategies to reduce the focus on sustain talk and guide conversations towards exploring motivation\, strengths\, and possibilities for change. \n\n\n\nPlease note: \n\n\n\nParticipants should be confident in using complex (deeper) reflective listening skills before attending this workshop. \n\n\n\nWho is this workshop for? \n\n\n\nThis workshop is designed for practitioners who have already completed at least an introductory Motivational Interviewing (MI) training and wish to further develop their skills and confidence in applying MI approaches in practice. This allows the learner to track their own learning progress and receive certificates on completion of training for their CPD records.
